Welcome to the Port Edwards School District. We are a small community (population around 2,300) located on the Wisconsin River in central Wisconsin with a history tied to the lumber and paper industries. The cranberry is now king, however the paper industry continues to have a very strong presence. Our school enrollment is approximately 530 (grades k-12), and we are proud to boast true classroom sizes of 18-24 students. The District operates two buildings, one serving kindergarten through grade four, and the other serving grades 5 through 12. Our community has a history of strong investment in its schools, and consequently expectations are high. Our students typically place above the state and national average on the ACT exam (reference our disclosure report). And we are proud to have had regular numbers of National Merit Scholars, Kohl Fellowship winners, and other award winners pass through our halls. Our small size has hopefully allowed us to focus on the needs of each of our students as individuals, and we strive hard to see every child succeed. Our student participation rate in co-curricular is always greater than 70% of the student body. At present we offer the following activities: Student Council, National Honor Society, SADD, yearbook, drama, forensics, brass choir, madrigals, Ecology Club, WRTI, football, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, wrestling (cooperative with Nekoosa), baseball, softball, boys and girls track, boys and girls cross country, and cheerleading.
